Apple Computer, Inc. trained 16 students (4th-8th grade) on March 19, 2004. For 6 hours our STARs (student technology aide representatives) learned to use the iLife digital applications with digital cameras and digital video equipment. On Monday, March 22, these 16 students passed on their knowledge to our teachers. In another 3hr Apple Training Day our teachers and students were brought together to bridge students' ability with teachers' needs. This extremely innovative approach to Professional Development was a tremendous success!
This experience will be repeated in August 2004.
St. John's Technology Partners in Education
Aspire is partnering with us to provide web-based grading and classroom management information to parents in realtime. All stay connected via the Internet. Apple Education is partnering with us to provide wireless solutions and professional staff development/training. Alexandria, COMPanion Corp. is partnerting with us to provide web-based
Library services and automation. Students can browse our titles in the library from any laptop around the school. Books are scanned and tracked with ease and fun.
Catholic Television Network is partnering with us to provide on-line curriculum content via streaming video. Students log in from anywhere to view, download, and incorporate educational video clips into their own presentations. LeapFrog is partnering with us to provide technology that assist some of our students overcome their learning challenges. LeapFrog helps our K-5 students in reading and phonics, and assesses their progress. Vantage Learning is partening with us to provide web-based writing assesment tools for our 4th-8th grade students. Student's log in on-line from any computer and are asked to write an essay based on grade appropriate writing prompts. Students are given immediate feedback and guided on how to improve their writing. This on-line service is based on the California writing standards and supplements our program.
